How Can I Be Saved?

Why Do You Need To Be Saved?

God created man good in the beginning, but man rebelled against a good God (Genesis 1:26-28)

Sin is the transgression of or disobedience to the Law of God. Adam (the first human) sinned by disobeying God’s Law.

Romans 5:12Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

You and I are just like our forefather Adam, doing what is right in our own eyes.

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

When you get a planet filled with people doing what seems right to them, you have a world of lawlessness and confusion. Sin brings confusion and death, but God does not want you to die in your sins. That is why you are reading the good news of His salvation right now.

Everyone is a Child of Adam

I John 5:19bthe whole world lieth in wickedness.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

It is clear that the entire world is just like their father Adam, having inherited his sinful nature. Not even one individual can gain favor with God through his own good works.

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Everyone is Spiritually Dead

I Corinthians 15:22For as in Adam all die

Because we are the offspring of Adam, we are sinners by nature, and we are dead in trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1).

You Must be Saved by Christ!

I John 5:19bWho [Christ] his own self bare our sins in his body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:by whose stripes ye were healed.

Jesus Christ dies for us. He dies in our place. He dies the death we should have died because of our sins.

Romans 3:23 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love werewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Romans 3:10 For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The gift of God is necessary to save us, for we cannot save ourselves from our ungodliness and sin.

We are without strength and helplessly lost in sin’s night, but Jesus came, as God’s free gift, with the power to redeem us from our sins.

Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

You Must be Saved by Christ!

Isaiah 55:7Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts:and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

You may say, “Well, I am not wicked!” However, you do not have to commit gross crimes to be wicked. Wickedness is a matter of the heart. Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

If you do not believe that you are a sinner, then you are unwisely repeating the sin of Adam our father who disobeyed the clear Word of God.

You have made yourself a god, and unless you repent and turn to Christ, you will be punished eternally for your rejection of God’s free gift of salvation.

In Luke 5:32, Jesus said, “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Will you take heed to Christ’s words in Mark 1:15 where He said, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”

“I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” (John 10:9)

If you would like to hear more about this matter of salvation through Christ, it would be worth your time to listen to the book Around the Wicket Gate by Charles Spurgeon, a godly minister from the past. He illustrates well the struggles of the soul for one who is contemplating salvation, and he points the searching heart to the clear promises of Christ.
