What kind of church are you?
We are a Fundamental, Independent, Bible Believing Church. We are Baptist in distinctive, though we have deep respect for all members of the true Body of Christ. As an autonomous assembly, we have no affiliation with any denomination.
How long has the church been in existence?
The church was co-founded in 1970 by Dr. C. Bruce Peacock Sr. and his son Bruce. After Dr. Peacock Sr. passed on in 1975, his son, Dr. Bruce Peacock Jr., served as the senior pastor until his homegoing in January of 2010.
What Bible version do you use?
We exclusively use the King James Version of the Holy Bible.
What kind of music do you have in the Church?
We sing traditional hymns and songs of the faith. Sacred arrangements are also used, but our desire is to play and sing only that which will edify the heart of the believer. We are in a day when even professing Fundamentalists are writing songs with words that merely serve the sensual, wandering melodies. The words of the great hymns of the faith have always been written first, with an appropriate melody coming later to serve and exalt the truth of the hymn’s message. It is our desire to continue in the tradition of exalting the truth of Scripture through song.
What is your purpose as a church?
Our purpose is to honor and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe He died on Calvary’s Cross, was buried, and rose again the third day. Each member of this local assembly has made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ, acknowledging He has personally redeemed them from the penalty of sin. The following verses set forth some primary, biblical reasons why we believe Christ came to die for us.
o Matthew 1:21 - And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
o Galatians 1:3-4 - Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
o I Corinthians 15:55-57 - O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
o II Corinthians 5:15 - And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
o I Thessalonians 5:9-10 – For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
o Ephesians 4:21-22, 24a – If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; … And that ye put on the new man…
o Ephesians 5:25-27 – Christ … loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Because Heaven gave its best for us in Jesus Christ, it is our desire to give of our best to the Master! Therefore, in order to honor Jesus Christ, we seek to spread the faith through personal witness and missionary support (Colossians 4:5-6, I Peter 3:15, Matthew 28:19-20), we desire to obediently continue in the faith (Colossians 1:21-23), and our resolve is to contend for the faith that has been committed to us in the preserved Word of God (Jude v.3).
What Do You Mean by “Contending for the Faith?”
We believe we are living amidst the apostasy (defection) of the mainstream Church from the true Faith of the Gospel. The apostasy or “falling away” (II Thessalonians 2:3) is marked by heavy emphasis upon the universality of the Gospel, but a failure to emphasize the exclusivity of that same Gospel. What is purposely not being preached about the scope of Christ’s atonement, the holy demands of His Gospel, and the purpose of His Church, has brought a shallow view of Christ and an unbiblical, non-absolute definition of “faith.” We believe that any other gospel than the whole counsel of God should be clearly separated from, as well as those who promulgate such a Gospel (Galatians 1:6-9). Therefore, we desire to contend earnestly for the defense of the Faith of the Gospel in its entirety. We believe the Gospel is for all mankind, but we also believe obedience to the Christ of that Gospel in our method of promulgation is of paramount importance. Thus, we refuse to cooperate and/or fellowship with compromising denominations and churches with their “gospel” which silences a call to holy, separated living unto Christ’s glory. We refuse to “market” the Gospel via worldly sales tactics in order to produce greater apparent “results” and numbers.
